Welcome to the Augusta Arts Council's website for the Augusta Historic Theatre! In 1935, Dave and Aline Bisagno opened the Augusta Theatre at 523 State Street in Historic Downtown Augusta, Kansas. It instantly became the architectural centerpiece of the community. It was the first theatre to be lit entirely by neon. Still in operation today, it has been placed on the National Register of Historical Places.

Our Mission It shall be the purpose of the Augusta Arts Council to act as a coordinating, educational and service organization to foster, promote, encourage and increase the knowledge, appreciation and practice of the Arts in Augusta, Kansas and the surrounding areas. It is also the mission of the Augusta Arts Council to preserve the Augusta Historic Theatre and to maintain and enhance its entertainment, historical and architectural value to the community.
The Augusta Arts Council is a non-profit organization supported by membership dues, gifts from individuals, businesses, corporations and grants. The Augusta Arts Council operates the Augusta Historic Theatre and the Augusta Fine Arts Centre & Gallery.
