Reflections of the Past . . . Preserving for the Future

It is the mission of the Augusta Arts Council to preserve the Augusta Historic Theatre and to maintain and enhance its entertainment, historical and architectural value to the community.  The Theatre recently completed a large restoration project. The Augusta Theatre was awarded a Save America's Treasures matching grant for $148,000. Matching donations were generously given!  The following restoration projects were completed:

  • Replacement of theatre carpeting
  • Restoration and respacing of theatre seating
  • Restoration of both theatre murals
  • Replacement of broken black glass on front exterior of theatre
  • Repairing plaster work and repairing/replacing of damaged ceiling tiles
  • Painting

The list is endless in the upkeep of this beautiful Art Deco movie theatre. We need to tuck point exterior walls, new curtains are needed, the A/C units will need to replaced or rebuilt in the near future, etc. Please think about donating to the upkeep of this 75 year old piece of history!

    • ALSO, the digital age is here. 35mm film will soon be a thing of the past. The Theatre will need to acquire digital & 3D projection if it is to remain open. The price tag is $85,000.............we have raised over $16,000.
    • WE NEED YOUR HELP
    • Please help keep the doors to this beautiful, 1935 Art Deco movie palace open!

Contributions to the Digital or Renovation Fund should be sent to:
